CJ's BUTTer® Product Review

CJ’s BUTTer® Product Review – Sponsored

Awhile back, I inquired about doing a CJ’s BUTTer® product review and giveaway. Not long after, I became overwhelmed with my personal life, and never got around to blogging about it. Now that I’ve moved over to my own hosting, I want to put my review out there, and finally host that giveaway that I’ve been meaning to. At the time, I had not used CJ’s BUTTer® at all, but I have continued to use the products ever since trying them.

CJ's BUTTer® Product Review

The current scents that CJ’s BUTTer® offers are:

  • All Natural Mango Sugar Mint:
“An all natural blend with sweet, ripe notes of mango with the tiniest kiss of mint to keep things crisp and fresh.”
  • Coconut Lime Dream:
“A luscious blend of creamy coconut and tangy lime.”
  • Lavender & Tea Tree:
“An essential oil blend. The power and uplift of Tea Tree paired with the comfort of Lavender!”
  • Lullaby Baby:
“This is a gorgeous, soft, irresistible designer baby fragrance! With soft notes of leafy green, peach, melon, coconut and honey, and reminiscent of Johnsons Baby Magic lotion, this fragrance is a tribute to the softness and innocence of babies.”
  • Monkey Farts:
“You asked for it and we listened!! For once the rather unattractive name is not an indicator of the quality of this excellent fragrance. A truly unique fragrance that begins with top notes of fresh banana and juicy grapefruit, middle notes of kiwi, bubblegum, and strawberries; and a hint of vanilla as a base note.”
  • Oatmeal, Milk,& Honey:
“This blend is a perfect marriage of oatmeal, milk and honey – mellow-soothing, with just a hint of sweetness-the comfort food of fragrance!
  • Sweet Orange:
“There’s just something comforting about the smell of oranges that’s…well…sweet! But Sweet Orange doesn’t JUST smell good. The Sweet Orange Essential Oil in this formula can help you with a variety of skin conditions!”
  • Warm Vanilla Cake:
“Quite simply the richest, most buttery vanilla in the entire universe!”
  • Unscented:
“Unscented products have no scent from essential oils or fragrances and are recommended for newborns and others with exceptionally sensitive skin.”
  • PLUS:
“CJ’s BUTTer® PLUS has all the benefits of Original CJ’s BUTTer® plus ingredients that treat fungal skin problems naturally. The neem oil and sesame oil in CJ’s BUTTer® PLUS make it especially effective when diaper rashes and skin irritations are yeast based thanks to the anti-fungal properties of both oils”
  • Scent of the month: November 2015’s scent of the month is Tis the Season.
“Try out our special blend for this holiday season: sugar cookies, chestnuts roasting, wassail, cinnamon and spices, and hints of peppermint and cocoa – like walking into a holiday party!”

CJ's BUTTer® Product Review

Diaper Cream, and More!

The CJ’s BUTTer® samples I received to review came in Oatmeal, Milk and Honey scent and a wonderful masculine scent. They have since simplified their stock, and don’t carry the masculine scent anymore. I have tried many other scents of theirs as well. My favorite scents of CJ’s BUTTer® are All Natural Mango Sugar Mint and Coconut Lime Dream. These scents are available in many varieties.

When we started using these products, we realized that CJ’s BUTTer® is a wonderful diaper cream. Bonus, it’s also safe for cloth diapers! When Evan was still in diapers, he slept SO much better when we would put a layer of CJ’s BUTTer® on him with his night diaper. Once he started getting rashes overnight from ammonia, we realized that CJ’s BUTTer® was a necessary part of the nighttime routine in order for us to get some sleep! We’ve made sure to put a barrier on Oliver from day one, and haven’t had the same rash troubles this time around.

One thing that CJ’s BUTTer® was great for at the beginning was meconium! In those early days, when a newborn has those dark, tarry poops, CJ’s BUTTer® can really help so that the meconium doesn’t stick to baby’s delicate skin. I remember it was horrible how much I had to wipe poor Evan during his first poopy diaper changes, but I did not have that problem with Oliver, and I truly think that it was because CJ’s BUTTer® provides a great moisturizing barrier, while also washing out of the cloth diapers without a problem. You can even apply the Original CJ’s BUTTer® to baby without getting your hands dirty by using the spritz or quick stick, rather than the tubs. I find that the quick stick is especially great to throw in your diaper bag, for those times you need something on the go.

Another great use for CJ’s BUTTer® to get rid of Oliver’s cradle cap, and it worked great. The cradle cap never came back! We just wet his hair, rubbed in the Original CJ’s BUTTer® and let it sit for a bit while he splashed around in the bath, occasionally rubbing his head with a wash cloth. When we felt it had been long enough, we washed it out, and rubbed his head with a washcloth again. The cradle cap went away and never came back. With Evan, we didn’t use any products in his hair, and the cradle cap lingered for a long time. I never thought it would go away.

I have also used CJ’s BUTTer® on my own dry skin as a lotion. It smells great and moisturizes well. My advice is to use it sparingly – a little goes a long way. But for my boys, it’s never enough. They loved getting the chance to use CJ’s BUTTer® as a full body lotion!

Soap and Body Wash

The Carcass Cleaner can be used as a wipe solution, baby wash, hand soap, or to wash your face with. I received the Lavender & Tea Tree scent, which contains tea tree oil. If you don’t know, tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties, and is known for being good for treating acne. I have bad acne which flares up seemingly randomly, though I know it’s related to hormonal changes. I also have sensitive skin, and have had a reaction to some of the more harsh facial cleansers.

CJ’s BUTTer® has created a natural product that both works, and doesn’t cause any negative reactions for my sensitive skin! When I say that I have sensitive skin, I mean that some bubble baths and laundry detergents give me hives, and some face washes have caused my skin to turn red and burn. This is one reason I love natural products like the ones CJ’s BUTTer® sells.

Another problem I’ve had with standard face washes is that they leave my skin feeling dry and tight – this Lavender & Tea Tree Carcass Cleaner didn’t do that! My skin felt soft, and refreshingly cool, like a minty clean feeling. It’s a really great feeling that makes it seem like it is working really well.

This is certainly a product I would feel comfortable using on a new baby, or letting my son use to wash his hands as much as he needed. (And little kids sure do need to wash their hands a lot, don’t they?)

Lip Balm

The lip balm was sent for my husband who gets badly chapped lips in cold weather, so they sent us an unscented version. It works as well as any other lip balm, but you know that it comes from a trustworthy company who uses natural ingredients. It didn’t leave that thick, caked on feeling either, which is a bonus!

Overall, the CJ’s BUTTer® products are very versatile, which I didn’t know until I tried them. Of course, they are great for cloth diaper users, but cloth diapering is not a requirement of enjoying the benefits CJ’s BUTTer® on your child or yourself!

  1. I was thinking twice before if i will give it a shot or not, i am curious with cjs butter so maybe its time to give it a try.

  2. I don’t have diapered kids anymore but I’d sure use this on my hands for dryness! I love the choice of scents as they all sound awesome!

  3. I love Cj’s Butter! Though we’ve only ever tried their butter in the tubs we’ve had them in many of their fragrances both their regular line up and the retail exclusive ones. It has been amazing as a diaper balm, lotion and for eczema relief.

  4. My first grandchild was just born, I have her with me often!! It has been along time since I had babies so I am always on the look out for great products to use now!!
